GAMIFYING ENGAGEMENT FOR BRANDS THAT WANT REAL-TIME RESULTS

Overview

Tavora’s vision is to use gamification to make brands stand out in a crowded space.

They work in partnership with both large and small scale brands to create memorable engagements with consumers that also provide real-time data insights, allowing brands to optimise their strategies quickly.

They came to Heracon in need of a better platform having proved that their simple but effective prototype showed the promise of disrupting the industry. The prototype was tricky to configure, hard to customise to different brands and lacked a central data platform that brands were searching for.

Challenges


  • Existing prototype had limited customisation options for working with different brands.

  • Only a single game type existed.

  • Data insights were aggregated in a third party open source platform that prevented brands from accessing insights directly.

  • Configuration was complex and time consuming when onboarding new brands.

  • The end user application must remain as a website accessible from a web browser to prevent time consuming application downloads on mobile devices.

Outcomes


  • We rebuilt the prototype from the ground up into an all in one platform that allows easy configuration for onboarding new brands, gaming for consumers and data analysis for brands.

  • We worked with Tavora to invent and build two new games to compliment their existing roulette game.

  • Data insights are collected throughout the consumers game play journey and are aggregated into a self service data insights dashboard accessible by brands.

  • A fully configurable UI was designed and built allowing Tavora to fully customise any of the games to match the branding of their customers.

  • New brand onboarding takes place in less than an hour, a significant improvement over the multiple days with the original prototype technology.

Discovery and kick-off workshop

Our engagement with Tavora began with a collaborative workshop designed to surface key challenges, define project goals and understand the overall vision for the product.

We worked closely with the Tavora team to prioritise the development of the new platform, mapping out all of the planned future game flows to provide data collection consistency.

The core aim of the rebuild was to improve on the prototype and convert the original idea into a platform that can support Tavora’s growth trajectory over the next 18 months. This involved building a self service platform for data insights, extensibility to support new game types and simple configuration for the Tavora team to easily manage thousands of brand activations at once.

One of the projects long term aims was to support brand customisation across all game types without having to touch a code editor or release a new version of software. We worked closely with Tavora to come up with a solution that allows for a brand kit Figma file to be uploaded to the platform which in turn modifies the games to match a brand identity. This allows the Tavora team to work in a tool that they are familiar with and prevented us from having to spend hundreds of hours of development time on building a custom game editor.
